Editorial Guns vs. Entertainment Industry

Once again the debate continues about how Video games cause violence or influence violence, now an interesting video by Fox News today took me by surprise as to how one person was on about if we ban assault rifles shouldn’t we ban video games? Well I disagree yes while the first amendment does indeed say you have a right to bear arms it was originally created to keep invaders out of the country, because of the American civil war at the time with Great Britain.

Now I’m not saying we take guns away because I believe you should have the right to defend yourself in any means necessary, while for the first time ever the UK is changing the laws to allow its citizens to defend themselves against intruders in their homes. There is greatly a more number of threats out in America because it’s a bigger country with no mental health plan.

The other thing is and I’m going to say what I think here is that a good 90% of parents don’t give a crap about that age ratings on games and don’t teach their kids the right and wrong. Now I can say when I was a kid I was slowly brought up into “violent” entertainment and I know what the right and wrong implementations of violence is. But having a semi-automatic or automatic rifle is asking for trouble! Fine you own a farm create an amendment to produce a certification to own that rifle on the farm, and if you’re in a city own a 9mm pistol not a rifle that can carry 30 rounds that’s overkill.

Any means of entertainment shouldn’t be blamed for the cause of violence, there have been studies carried out through the years so far proving that they can find no link that entertainment cause’s violence. It’s been proved that it actually helps with our eye sight, and education but violence well that to me sounds like the human race just finding another thing to blame because we can’t be bothered to go and deal with the problem its self.

My point stands that Entertainment methods shouldn’t be blamed because there is still yet no proof that entertainment causes violence. While I agree with the entire government conducting research in such divisions I find it funny how their just investigation video games and not the entertainment industry on a whole. And how it’s only taking research from official government sources and not outside sources as it argues it would be “for” video games while we would all argue that the government research would be “against” video games. So shouldn’t it be count outside research to just to put all our mind at rest?

Now I can bet you because I’m from the UK people from the US who are extremely against “Gun Control” will threaten with the entire thing of “1776 will happen again” just like Alex Jones did with Piers Morgan. But before you go throwing such words about let me say thing, I am simply offering my opinion like you are expressing your opinion of keeping the guns. Some might say we need to defend ourselves against the government my response would be why do you need to feel such need of protection against your own government to me I would take that as a sign of paranoid delusional. If the government wanted control of its country and citizen it could do all that without using guns all it would have to do is control the food and water we get.

By what about this theory, while it may anger the video games in America just humour me and listen to this point. If we removed Video Games in general from just America for one entire year and the crime rate either stayed the same or went up what do you think would get the blame next? Film, TV, Comics?
