[Editorial] Spike TV's Video Game Awards Failure

The Video Game Awards an event that awards games and their developers for the hard work and talent they have put into such an amazing media of entertainment, this year dubbed as VGX fell through a shard of glass so steep that it could have cut a black hole in half. Usually we are greeted by Mr Samuel L. Jackson who made the Video Game Awards so entertaining and amusing, however this year we are greeted with Geoff Keighley and Joel McHale.

Personally watching the Video Game Awards this year felt slow, boring and damn right an embarrassment to the industry of video games not just because of Joel McHale’s horrible and often insulting jokes, but also due to the poor “viral” content that was displayed in between world premieres and developer Q&A’s. In a desperate attempt to be funny, during these segments the only one that made me laugh was by Rooster Teeth, the others looked like a desperate call for help to make up for the lack of content during a 3 hour Broadcast. Thankfully, it was only aired online.

Geoff Keighley did an amazing job trying to hold the show to together, but even he seemed slightly disappointed with how things turned out during the show. Overall this year show felt unplanned and last minute.
