Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles returns to Nickelodeon TV on September 29th, but these turtles have some differences.
At a panel at San Diego Comic Con list last weekend, the new creative team behind the restart of the Turtles told of a number of changes between the new version of the Turtles and its comic and television predecessors.
The first primary change is de-aging of April O'Neil. No longer a reporter, she is now 16 and thus more of a sister to the heroic foursome than an adult foil. Splinter is now the same size as the Turtles and will be a more active member of the team instead of just a teacher. Donatello's staff looks to be bladed now, and is voiced by the original voice actor for Raphael.
The villains have changed as well. Shredder and Krang are back, but major changes to Leatherhead, Rat King, and General Traag will give a new feel to the villains and make the series darker than what it was originally.
