At first glance, the Logitech G500s Gaming mouse looks well designed. With its sleek look and etched sides, designed to prevent it from slipping when moving, it is meant for long gaming sessions.
Three side buttons on the left side of the mouse allow a user to scroll back and forth on web pages. These buttons are programmable using the downloadable install software, to fit your gaming needs. The d.p.i. can be adjusted through the software to a maximulm of 8200 dpi. Three profiles levels on the mouse wheel and angle of the mouse are available, allowing for raising or lowering of the mouse itself. The mouse wheel can be set for free spinning or ratchet, depending on your preferences, with a lock so do doesn't switch below the scroll wheel.
The feel of the mouse is at first one could consider it being a little rough, as well as this mouse is more suited for someone with mid to small hands. With bigger hands, the mouse is a bit hard to move around.
When gaming, I find it very fast and sometimes have to adjust in-game sensitivity in order to get more manageable control. The mouse scrolling was very easy with the free spinning scroll wheel, but it can be a bit tricky to get the hang of at first. After you get used to it, you will probably like it more then when it is on ratcheted mode.
The overall look of the mouse looks very nice. Its black stealth looks, combined with what looks like some sort of Tron sliver inspired etching, very futuristic. Sorry, though, Tron fans, it does not light up. The only thing that lights up is the dpi level, telling you what set you selected on the softwere.
Included with the mouse are extra pieces to change the actual weight of the mouse. One can ether have six 1.7 grams of weight or the lighter 4.5 grams to make it heavier, this can be used to help one have a better feel with the mouse.

Pros and cons of the mouse.
Pros
- Depending on what you want in a mouse, this is a good mouse for users that want super fast speed and still remain in control of the cursor.
- This mouse does feel good and reliable to the touch and, with its smooth surface, gives gamers a non-slip feel when playing for hours at a time.
- For me, the weights are a nice touch. But, after a while, you don't feel anything or much of a difference. MLG players, however, swear by the ability to change the weight of their mouse for competition.
Cons
- After a while, it needed to be cleaned in order to feel comfortable when using the mouse.
- When booting up, the computer takes a few seconds for the mouse to boot up and get the per set dpi that you set it to.
- The scrolling wheel can run away from you at first, but you can get used to it after a while.
My final thought on the Logitech G500s
It a well-made mouse that offers what it says on the box. With its smooth feel in the hand, when you use a good mouse mat, it feels like you are in control of your game. The price tag for this mouse it a tad on the too high range. Its up there with Razor prices at about £50-60 pounds, depending where you shop in a store or online.
All in all I rate this mouse about 8/10
