Opinion - GOP Stupidly Decides to Mimic Buzzfeed

By David West on 29/04/2024 21:50 UTC

The GOP has decided, in their infinite wisdom after selecting the worst possible candidate to go up against Obama in the last election, to mimic the website Buzzfeed in their new campaign on social media.

Knock, knock, guys. This is a stupid plan, and follows other stupid ideas such as McCainSpace in 2008, R-IGG to compete against DIGG, and new attempts at social networks to mimic Ning, Facebook, and other sites on the internet.

Why?

Right now, in the libertarian and conservative movement, are some of the brightest stars out in social media. It was not just Andrew Breitbart, but others out there are making a difference and they are doing their way, not by mimicking sites. Even people like Glenn Beck have social media and news sites which are new, innovative, and have no need to mimic another site to succeed.

But, the GOP just continues to show why they are not appealing to the voters they should be scooping up by the droves. You want a job? You want to be able to afford those video games you want to own? Even better, who led the fight to censor games and music?

Instead, the GOP comes up with this lame attempts of imitation instead of creating things new. They are guaranteeing failure and mockery once again.

Wrong strategy, folks. Please wake up. With a new crop of libertarian-leaning Republicans like Rand Paul, willing to fight for rights on the Internet, and to get rid of things like the NDAA, SOPA/PIPA, and the like, get with the program and show the innovation you are capable of providing.

LagSpike.tv does not mimic anyone. We are here to provide news, streams, and a social experience different than what's out there. While this editor may be conservative to libertarian in bent, he is not the only person contributing to this site. But, this site is dedicated to video gamers, their freedom to play what they want with who they want, and on whatever service they desire to stream at. We are here to get you found, and we are here to take on the big boys with something akin to what they call the grassroots in politics: real gamers, not fake gamers rejected by higher media outlets and forced down into the gaming world to make a name for themselves.
