Pink Day in LA, an event to bring about breast cancer awareness, is scheduled on October 20th. So is Extra Life's benefit for children's hospitals.
Both events have asked gamers to play and broadcast their gameplay that same day for the two completely different charities. This is the sort of thing which causes bad feelings among the gaming community. Some coordination, especially within the gaming community, needs to happen so all these charity events don't overlap one another. This is especially true when the event is a single day only, as is the case between Pink Day and Extra Life.
Extra Life goes to gaming companies to unify multiple gamers together into teams. The game companies have fun competing against one another in these events. In addition, gaming websites such as Lagspike.tv also band together to form teams.
Pink Day in LA is holding in-game events specifically in Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 on multiple servers for people to gather.
