The Razer Black Widow is look upon as being the main keyboard that Razer has to offer. With its macro keys as well the tactile feel of each key that you press. Giving a sound that you hit the right key and removing any worry that you may not have hit the it, which could cost you a fight or a match, depending on the game you’re playing.

The keys are mechanical and have a Cherry Mx Blues that are meant for gaming and only need 50 grams of finger weight to activate the key and 0.4 before the switch is reset. Giving a gamer more of tactile feel and less need to mash the key. In order to execute a key stroke, it all depends on the model that you get. For example, if you get the Ultimate edition 2013 which has the Cherry Mx Red, it has even more adjustment on the weight of the key strokes.

The 2014 ultimate has the Razer Cherry Mx Greens, which is their own brand of switches that are even better than the Red switches used in there older editions, as well as the back-lit keys that come in the trade mark green. The keyboard has adjustments for brightness, as well as how the button taps on and off. Also this keyboard has a gaming mode and macros setting that can be set on the fly like the Deathstalker.

There have been many different versions of the Black Widow thought the years, like the one that I'm using, which is the 2010 edition. A person can see the advantages that the updated models, with features such as better back lighting, and better key switches. Also with additions like additional USB ports, and microphone and headphone socket.

To best suit any gamer needs, even tournament, there is an edition for all you road trip gamers. Also there is a stealth keyboard that has the Cherry Mx Blacks that take away the sound of the keys but still give you the same result as the normal Black Widow keyboard.

Pros

  • A well know gamming keyboard that offers a good, well maintained product that caters to the need of the gamers. With the use of balanced switches to give the gamer more power to their fingertips.
  • Looks good to the eyes with it laser etched keys as well individual back-lit keys.
  • Additional macro keys on the left hand side that can be utilized, in game.
  • A wide range of models that have their own differences that should fit every sort of gamer.

Cons

  • Price; Razer may have the best in quality, but can be out of most gamers price range.
  • There are other keyboards that may have better additional add-ons and attachments that offer more customization.
  • The keys noise could be an issue for fellow gamers when participating in gaming torments.

My Final thoughts on the Razer Black Widow are that the keyboard is well built and gives a good feel to every key press, and gives the user the feeling that they hit the correct key as oppose to other keyboard that may have a spring-loaded keys or even a membrane. There are times where you think that there could be more done in the way that Razer does their keyboards and other peripherals that they offer. Some examples are multiple colored lights and logos. Which could help a gamer with their macros, or keyset controls that one wish to use.

Like my experience with the Logitech G19 and in integrated mini multimedia screen that one can download different macro sets, as well as a gamming mode switch which is a slider and is not like the Razer where one has to press Function key and on one of F-number key in order to activate the gamming mode. As well, the Logitech lighting changes for different M.O.B.A's such as League of Legends the keys change color to the side you will be on. This is somewhat implemented on the Deathstalker Ultimate edition.

What do you think of most gaming keyboards and what things would like to see as you dream gaming peripheral?
