Like any industry there is always rumours and speculations what companies may be planning to announce, drop, or currently developing. The recent rumour is that Microsoft is to abandon plants to provide PC support for its Xbox One controller. Back in August of last year Microsoft told announced it will roll out PC drivers for the Xbox One controller in 2014.
However little has been said by the company about when the drivers will be rolling out. These rumours spiralled across the internet like any rumour does of course various news sites will also report on these rumours, which can often have a knock on effect.
Albert Penello, director of planning at Xbox, issued a message on the games forum NeoGAF to claim that the rumour is “100 percent wrong”. Insisting that the driver is still in the works and would be available at a later date.
With GDC just round the corner and E3 following up a few months later we could see Microsoft announce the drivers anywhere between these two events. But rest assured the drivers are coming and will work with your current controllers.
