There's a doggy-luke Lystrosaurus that the devs over at Studio Wildcard have thrown into the prehistoic mix, and players can pet the pooch to gain an XP buff. The Arthropluera is a ride-able monster that has an awesome spit attack (target those Dennis Nedrys). Then there's the Sabertooth Salmon that seems to be a fish that you don't want to find yourself swimming with anytime soon. Those fangs. Nightmares.
New weapons include the Primitive Bola that ensnares players and small creatures, either on foot or in the air.
Plus, there's a new carnivore in town--face off against the Megapithecus on a snowy mountaintop.
