Battlefield V Revealed

By AJ Hanson on 29/04/2024 21:52 UTC

Well, that sure was interesting...

Fresh off the heels of a Call of Duty reveal last week, EA pulled out all of the stops for the reveal of the latest Battlefield title; Battlefield V

With teases over the past week giving very little away, it was nice to see DICE and EA peel back the cover just a little more before E3 2018.

First off, we know the games full release date. Battlefield V will launch on October 19th, 2018 on PC, Xbox One and PS4. A pre-order of the game will also snag you access to the games beta testing, which we expect to go live sometime late summer or early fall.

The game will be set in World War II and will feature a single player mode, a co-op mode called Combined Arms, and a full multiplayer mode. Everything you do in the game allows you to progress into your chosen class or classes in game.

Make no mistake, this is a different Battlefield than anyone has ever seen before and its pretty incredible to see a series such as Battlefield taking such risks with its gameplay choices.

A short list of new things you can do in Battlefield V is below:

  •  Stick with your squad.
    • Squad play has always been important in Battlefield, but now its more important than ever. Squadmates can now see where you are and what you're doing before they decide to spawn on you via an over the shoulder perspective view before spawning back in. It sounds like this is to eliminate the whole "spawn on squad member and die two seconds later" thing thats plagued Battlefield for ages.
  •  Build up a base.
    • Fortifications are a thing! Toolkits will be available to every soldier that hits the battlefield. You can use that tool kit in set locations (around capture points for example) to build resupply stations, sandbag walls, barbed wire fences, foxholes, and more!
  •  you can drag downed teammates to safety.
    • When you see a bleeding teammate on the ground, you can now pick them up and drag them to safety to be revived. This is especially useful for Squadmate revives (more on that later). Everyone should be able to benefit from not being caught in the old song and dance where you're gunned downed immediately after being revived.
  •  Anyone can revive (Kind of)
    • Speaking of revivals...Anyone in your squad can revive you now! While medics are still the go-to for all of you healing types out there, any player in a squad can revive a downed soldier in the same squad. It does take longer to revive a squadmate vs having a medic do it, but its a pretty handy tool to have in your arsenal.
  •  Soldier classes can be further specialized.
    • While the core classes; Assault, Support, Medic, and Recon remain unchanged, new archetypes will allow you to tailor your class to your preferred play style or for different types of battle conditions. There hasn't been much news on this front, but with E3 a few days away, we should hopefully get more information on those.
  •  Stationary weapons - no longer stationary.
    • Weapons like the anti-air gun, anti-tank turrets and more are now no longer fixed in one location. you'll be able to connect them to an assortment of vehicles and drag them around like you would a trailer.
  •  Squad leaders can perform cool actions if they lead well.
    • Squad leaders will all be given a radio, as your squaddies follow orders, complete objectives, etc you'll earn points. Earn enough points and you can spend them, via that radio, on bonuses like supply drops, heavy weapons, tanks, and even rocket strikes.

If all of this information is a lot to take in, we recommend giving TwoAngryGamers video covering all of the new information a watch or listen here:
