Call of Duty Infinite Warfare - Windows 10 and Steam Users Cannot Play Together

By AJ Hanson on 29/04/2024 21:52 UTC

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare released worldwide today and as always, PC gamers are on the look out for discounts for the latest title. The Windows 10 store is offering the game at a substantial discount...with one caveat players shouldn't ignore.

Players who purchase the Windows 10 version of CoD:IW will not be able to battle online with those who have the Steam version.

Thats right, if you purchase the Windows 10 Version of Infinite Warfare, you will only be able to play with other owners of the Windows 10 version. While the discount is pretty substantial ($47.99 for the base game and $63.99 for the Digital Legacy Edition), its a pretty steep price to pay in terms of the largest Call of Duty staple: Online Multiplayer.

This is not mentioned in any literature about the game on the Windows 10 store as of this writing. The only mention we were able to find was on an Activision FAQ. It is also worth noting that this Windows 10 version is NOT an Xbox Play Anywhere title either. So, in all honesty, its confusing as to why its on the platform at all.

It all seems like this is a move designed to put Microsoft in the minds of gamers when looking at the latest and greatest games. It is, however, a move that might backfire if this is how things are going to continue going forward.
