In a recent earnings report from Capcom, several hints are dropped towards a "full-scale offensive" in regards  to the Resident Evil franchise for second half of the current financial year. This is hinting towards the release of one more Resident Evil title, alongside Umbrella Corps, before 31st of March, 2017.

These clues were initially spotted by NeoGAF user Chobel, who uploaded a screenshot from an SFV Sales Tread with the following statement:

In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company is scheduled to release [...] Resident Evil Umbrella Corps (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the Resident Evil series, which marked its 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year.

While Resident Evil 7 is still only rumoured to be in development, one can only hope that Capcom are ready to move the series back to its horror roots. With the franchise celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year, and the fact that a seventh mainline game has been expected for a while already, maybe we'll get to see some news as soon as the E3 trade show in June.

Resident Evil 6 launched in October 2012, breaking company records on its way to a 6.3 million sales total, as of September 2015. Those sales came in despite the game being received poorly by both fans and critics, particularly in contrast to past games in the series. The game has also recently been released for PS4 and Xbox One, and is soon to be followed by Resident Evil 5 and 4 as well.
