CRYENGINE Showcase Trailer - GDC 2014

By AJ Hanson on 29/04/2024 21:51 UTC

Crytek took to GDC (Game Developers Conference) to show off their newest version of the CRYENGINE. For those unaware, CRYENGINE is a game deveopment solution, often reguarded as the fastest high-end game renderer in the world.

Crytek says "In recent years, many game developers that are looking to create superior gaming experiences have chosen the all-inclusive CRYENGINE toolbox. These games truly manage to get the best out of CRYENGINE" and some of the games are demonstrated in the trailer below:

Games shown in the Trailer include:

  • Evolve by Turtle Rock Studios

From the creators of Left 4 Dead now comes Evolve, a next-gen (Xbox One, PS4, and PC) multiplayer shooter where four Hunters face off against a single, player-controlled Monster in thrilling 4v1 matches. The player can either be the Monster, or play as one of four Hunter classes (Trapper, Support, Assault, and Medic) and team up to take down the savage beast. Unlock new abilities, upgrades, and perks through leveling up and rule the leaderboards.

  • Icarus Online by WeMade Entertainment

Upcoming flight-centric MMORPG Icarus Online, powered by CRYENGINE, will soon be going into Open Beta. The game has been in production for more than ten years and features five classes: Berserker, Guardian, Priest, Assassin, and Wizard.

  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance by Warhorse Studios

After a more than successful Kickstarter campaign, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is off to a great start. This realistic, single-player RPG set in medieval Europe aims to bring accurate melee combat in both one-on-one skirmishes and large-scale battles. CRYENGINE’s next-gen visuals will bring the player majestic castles, armored knights, open field battles, and political intrigue set in a vast, emergent world.

  • Monster Hunter Online by Capcom and Tencent Games

This free-to-play MMO is planned for release on PC only and powered by CRYENGINE. This action game gives players 20 hunting licenses per day to enter instances, in which a boss challenge awaits. The game currently has three difficulties: trial mode, challenge mode, and extreme mode.

  • Ryse: Son of Rome by Crytek

Pushing even next-gen limits, Ryse: Son of Rome is a stunning action-adventure that follows Marius Titus on a heroic quest to avenge the death of his family and preserve the honor of Rome, at all costs. The game presents a cinematic recreation of the Roman Empire in breathtaking detail.

  • Star Citizen by Cloud Imperium Games

An immensely successful Kickstarter campaign led to a long list of stretch goals that will make Star Citizenthe first AAA title developed with money from fans instead of a major publisher. This upcoming space sim will consist mainly of first-person space combat and trading in a massively multiplayer persistent universe, with customizable private servers and a branching single-player and drop-in co-op multiplayer campaign. The game is being made for Microsoft Windows and will feature Oculus Rift support.

  • Warface by Crytek

Warface is an all-action online shooter from Crytek that offers first-rate FPS action for free. Featuring four unique soldier classes, the game puts a special emphasis on teamwork as players complete daring Co-op missions or jump into intense Versus combat. Extensive customization options, daily updates, and missions built for beginners or experts make Warface an online experience nobody wants to miss.

The CRYENGINE has always been one of my favorite game rendering systems, and this new version doesn't fail to impress me. I cannot wait to see the full capabilities in some of the upcoming games of 2014 and 2015.
