Destiny 2 Gameplay Details, More Revealed During Bungie Livestream

By AJ Hanson on 29/04/2024 21:52 UTC

The wait is over. If the reveal trailer last month opened the door, todays information overload blew the hinges off completely. Bungie not only gave us the promised gameplay reveal, but also gave us an overload of information on what you'll be able to do and see in Destiny 2.

The gameplay reveal trailer looks incredible. Showing off not only parts of the story, but how the new UI works in game and also new weapons and character abilities.

We were also treated to more information about the games content. Destiny 2 will begin with a mission called Homecoming. This mission is set during the invaision of The Last City and is lead by Cabal REd Legion Commander Domnius Ghaul. Ghaul believes that "The Red Legion should ahve been the Traveler's Light." and believes in a better class of Guardian.

There are three brand new glasses in Destiny 2 - the Warlock's Dawnblade, the Hunter's Arcstrider, and the Titan's Sentinel. Four new planets were also revealed; Titan, Io, Nessus, and the European Dead Zone. Players will be able to launch new activities throughout the game without going into orbit. A new Strike is also included in the game, called the Inverted Spire, this strike will be accessible to anyone playing the game. As will every piece of content in Destiny 2 thanks to Clans and Guided Games, both new features to the series.

Clans will be optional teams that will provide a way to make it easier for players to group with others. Bungie is adding in game rosters and custom designed banners to give each clan its own identity. Clans will also consist of a reward and progression system that will extend to each clan member alike.

Guided Games will procide a way for clans and solo players to meet and play through the games content. Its basically a new take on MMO's Looking For Group (LFG) system that again helps Bungie live up to the promise of everyone being able to play every piece of content they want to.

A public beta will be available "THIS SUMMER" across all platforms, and Bungie also revealed that Blizzards' Battle Net service (the PC Blizzard App) will be the exclusive home of Destiny 2 on PC.

Destiny 2 will launch on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on September 8th, 2017. You can pre-order from your favorite retailer now. We look forward to bringing more Destiny 2 news as we get it in the coming weeks and months leading up to release.
