Yes, there are more press conferences to go. Yes, the doors haven't opened for the main event yet. Yes, Devolver Digital are tenuously attending E3 by being OPPOSITE the actual event in a Hooter's car park (yes, really). But Devolver won this whole event with possibly the most fantastic, on-the-nose 'press conference' ever witnessed.
Moving away from the traditional and somewhat unavoidable pandering that goes with press conferences nowadays, where teraflops out-rank titles and we're sternly told that games are cool because certain influencers are reading a script that says the game will be, Devolver did.... something. A tongue-in-cheek, satirical shot at the entire culture was the perfect palate cleanser after EA's pretty shaky conference, Xbox's EXCLUSIVE one and Bethesda's 17 second one.
I could probably rattle on for days about just how on point this whole thing was and how it seemed like they'd checked out Bear Stearns Bravo and thought 'hey let's turn that into a conferece', but I think you'd be better served by just watching it.
