Are you ready for more DOOM? Bethesda thinks you are, and has announced an open DOOM Beta for April 15-18th.
The open beta will not require a code or pass, players simply will need to login to the platform of their choice and download the beta to access two modes; Team Deathmatch and Warpath, along with two maps: Heatwave and Infernal.
The maps are "just a fraction of what players will experience when the game launches on May 13th on Xbox One, PS4, and PC" according to Bethesda. Many of the new maps, modes, and power ups featured in DOOM's mutliplayer were featured in a recent video series. Bethesda also revealed that support for DOOM will not end after the game has been released, with free content updates coming out regularly and a new feature called SnapMap being impliemented into the game.
What is SnapMap, you ask? It is Bethesda's way of making DOOM user-generated content relevant again.
We know the DOOM community has always been about great user-generated content, and that’s something we want to continue to encourage with SnapMap, an innovative new component of DOOM designed to make creating, sharing and playing new game experiences fast and easy. On top of being able to access and play new modes and maps created by fellow gamers, id plans to offer content updates for SnapMap, including map modules; props and objects; additional features and functionality; AI enhancements; editing tool enhancements and more.
Multiplayer content will also receive multiple content updates in the form of new game modes throughout the year. In addition to the free DLC and support, players will also be able to take part in three premium DLC packs after launch. This DLC will unlock a number of new maps, hack modules playable demons, weapons, and more. The first DLC pack will be available this summer and will grant users access to the following features:
- Three new maps
- One new weapon
- One new playable demon
- One new armour set
- One new piece of equipment
- New hack modules and taunts
- New customization colours and patterns
Each DLC pack will cost $14.99 / £11.99 / €14.99, if purchased individually or players can purchase the Season Pass for $39.99 / £29.99 / €39.99.
Players can purchase the season pass along with their DOOM pre-order any place DOOM is being sold.
