Earlier today while I was once again keeping a keen eye out on twitter for some news up popped a very interesting article on the recent shootings incident out in America. However this was in favour for video games and not against them, now in recent weeks after the event that happened and shouldn’t have happened the case was that the media was blamed and mainly Video Games fell behind this once more.
Now over at Gamerspy.co.uk was the article of how one person was indeed in the same boat as many gamers are and same with myself fed up with how the video games industry is fall to the blame once more for such events. Now many gamers will know that games do not cause violence however many parents and various individuals around the world do not know that because they don't play with them at all or take any interest in them.
Now when I started gaming back in the day I use to sit there and play a game under the careful eye of my parents, I was slowly brought into the various “violent” video games but this was done mainly through film. And often held around the odd conversation what was right and wrong and generally I knew what was right or wrong in the first place. But many will argue what about those who are mentally challenged, we’ll in my honest opinion it is down to the person who is in charge of looking after them if they should be or shouldn’t be playing such games.
While many countries mental health programs are good some are not and people will always slip through the system. The problem being those that slip through the system and being in America Parents or Guardians should SECURE your firearms otherwise it’s an invitation for problems. While we have all be witnessing the events of what happened after the recent shooting in Sandy Hook, which is saddening that such things happen, watching politicians wale their arms in the air blaming other things because they can’t be bothered to deal with the issues at hand because it would be too much of a headache. And yes while there other means of obtaining firearms, the point of a gun ban would be only a few would have access to the other means.
The other side of the argument is feel safe, fine get a Taser at least the suspect will be on the floor for enough time for the police to arrive or for you to make a citizen’s arrest.
I’m just fed up of sitting here in the UK listening to how Video Games are to blame when a few years back it was TV then Film and now its Video Games. The other thing was if anyone saw the debate between Piers Morgan and Alex Jones was how Alex Jones couldn’t hold a civil “Adult” debate without letting his pretty mouth run every 5 seconds, I’m sorry Alex I thought you had some interesting points during that “debate” but we are not trying to have another civil war that was a silly thing to suggest when someone was giving their point of view on the situation.
Now while some will argue because I’m young I will be “blindsided” by the industry, fact being my fellow readers I’ve been brought up with what I think to be the correct way. I have never once thought hey lets grab a gun go someplace to shoot people and see what happens and never will. Only time I will ever take up a firearm is if I joined the Army to defend my country.
The other interesting point someone made via twitter was saying “I play violent video games, but don’t want to kill people” is like saying “I read”, I’m sorry but that point was completely illogical.
@gamerspy1 @sweptsquash but the whole premise of "I play violent games but I don't want to kill people" is like saying "I read..."

My overall point is, Video Games shouldn’t be blamed, and America should have better mental health plans, a gun law (to a better degree than what it has right now!). Because I don’t know how we in the UK can get away with so many millions of people playing FPS Games and not feeling the need to go out to the streets and kill people.
Of course this debate will continue on until they come out with Holodecks like in Star Trek because people will then blame them for being so real that people can use them to plan out mass shootings. People will always blame other things it’s in our nature but there comes a point when we as the Human race have to face tough decisions and make a tough call and FIX things. Because you know until you don’t face the music things will only get worse. That’s life people!
If you’re worried about your kids, sit down with them tonight as they play that 18 rated game you shouldn’t have got them and talk to them see what they think of everything. Learn with them as they learn with you. Be part of their down time of an evening and get to know what goes through your kid’s heads. And if you’re worried hold of games for a bit and gradually bring them in to it. Also a keynote for parents reading also the age Certificates on games just like films are there for reasons!
Make sure you check them on the PEGI and ESRB websites before buying your kids such games!
