It's been in the works for quite a while, but it's looking like Positech Games' Gratuitous Space Battles 2 is almost ready for release. This is fantastic for all those people who were disappointed when the game didn't launch in November 2014 as originally expected, but what's been happening in that time?
Well, it turns out, quite a lot actually. The game is in its final test phase of its beta release now, and available for preorder through the Positech website, along with an absolute slew of new features, some including big redesigns of ships and combat, others much more minor and flavourful (a personal favourite being that now, when a ship is destroyed and the escape pods blast away, you can mouse over them to find out that crew member's name and on-ship job).
Apparently the game should be launching next month (April 16th according to Cliffski's blog) and, excitingly for me and my "Kenwoo Blender with a Screen" (Thanks, Sam...) should be playable on some quite low spec tech - though obviously, as we saw at EGX Rezzed, the game looks absolutely glorious when played on dual 27" monitors at full HD specs.
Here's the full interview with more details.
