After surviving a bit of a rocky start, and then an even rockier transition to consoles, Elder Scrolls Online has found a solid following in recent years. The last expansion, Morrowind, took players to familiar locations from the third game in the Elder Scrolls series. The latest expansion announced today, Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset, sends players on a high fantasy adventure once again.
The new expansion will launch June 5th on PS4 and Xbox One, with early access going to PC/Mac players starting May 21st. Players will get to traverse and explore the Isle of Summerset, not seen in an Elder Scrolls Game since Elder Scrolls: Arena. In addition to the new zone, Summerset will feature a main story that (finally) concludes the Daedric Drama, which was started in the Orisium DLC.
New players to ESO will be able to enjoy the next expansion from the start, as there will be a starter area and tutorial to get familiar with the game. Existing players can upgrade their account to the new expansion and carry over their characters into Summerset or start with an entirely new character.
Bethesda have announced several pre-order options which will grant various in game perks.
Coinciding with the announcement, a free to play week for ESO kicks off today on PC, PS4, and Mac and will hit the Xbox One tomorrow. The event will run until March 27th and grants players access to the base game only.
