Holy hell, Epic Games! Announced on Twitter for the 2018-2019 competitive season, Epic Games is throwing $100,000,000 as prize money for Fortnite competitions.
In the 2018 - 2019 season, Epic Games will provide $100,000,000 to fund prize pools for Fortnite competitions. We’re getting behind competitive play in a big way, but our approach will be different - we plan to be more inclusive, and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game.
No other information is available at the time of writing, with Epic to announce competitive structures and supported platforms in the coming weeks.
"Grab your gear, drop in and start training. Since the launch of Fortnite Battle Royale we’ve watched the passion for community competition grow and can’t wait to empower you to battle with the best." Reads the press release sent out by Epic Games on their Fortnite blog.
While it might seem like 100 million dollars is a huge figure to drop on an ever changing game, with Epic making somewhere close to 100 million a month on the game alone, it doesn't surprise us that they're able to float that kind of funds across a competitive season.
We'll keep you updated on the latest Fortnite competition news as we get it.
