Gadget Show Live 2015

By Callum Polak on 29/04/2024 21:51 UTC

Channel 5’s ‘Gadget Show Live’ returns to the NEC in Birmingham for the 7th year running, bringing five halls of gadgets, games and technology.

Here is just a sample of some of the cool stuff featured at this year’s event.

SFB Games - ‘Haunt the House Terrortown’ and ‘Detective Grimoire

Haunt the House Terrortown is a cartoon-style sidescroller, in which the player takes control of an adorable ghost with the intention to clear each individual building of peaceful residents before the morning comes. Co-founder and Lead Developer Tom Vian is at the event this week to showcase his games.

The second game from SFB Games on showcase is Detective Grimoire, a murder mystery game based around puzzles.

Detective Grimoire has been called to investigate a murder. The owner of a small tourist attraction, found deep within the heart of the marshes, seemingly killed by the very mythical creature his attraction is based around... Explore the surrounding area, inspect the scene of the crime, grill the suspects, solve puzzles, search for clues and uncover the secret of the swamp!

Both games are available to purchase through Steam, Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Cherry - Cherry MX Board 6.0

Now what do we need to play great PC games? A great keyboard. Out this May, the Cherry MX Board 6.0 is the ‘fastest keyboard in the world’ thanks to the Cherry RealKey (RK) technology which allows every key to be pressed at the same time while still transmitting signals. RK Technology is a different approach to transmitting signals by having each key connected to an analog controller as opposed to digitally scanned switching points. This means the keyboard is 100% ghosting free leading to no inputting errors with signal reading in real time.

When I first tested the product at the show floor, I was amazed by the quality of the keyboard, every inch of it felt like something special.

The board features 108 keys, all with Cherry MX Red Mechanical switches and red LED backlighting. The board is made from a fingerprint resistant aluminium top and a steel backplate. With the board comes a magnetically attaching wrist rest which is made from real rubber, giving a very nice and comfortable feel.

Eclipse Arena - LAN Gaming Arena

Also at this years Gadget Show was the Coventry based Eclipse Arena. It’s not just gaming you can do at Eclipse Arena, there are also ‘How to Workshops’ led by experts who demonstrate PC upgrading and overclocking, an ‘Education Centre’ which trains people to use computers and a ‘Vendors Exhibition’, where you get to meet vendors and learn about the latest technology and products.

Currently, the games being offered are Battlefield 4, CS:GO, Dota 2, Alien Isolation, LoL and TF2. Players can also bring their own systems, with their own games on if they wish. Sounds good right? I haven’t even told you the prices.

For Arena PC use, if you come by yourself, it’s £12.50 for 6 hours or just £50 for a group of 5. Or if you don’t have that much time spare, it’ll only cost you £5 to play for an hour. There is also a tabletop area to play Warhammer, Magic: The Gathering and any other TCG. This will only cost £30 for 6 hours with if you bring 4 of your mates along with you.

Thank you gadget show for having SenshudoTV to come to the event this year. See you again soon!
