The closing of the servers maintained by GameSpy caused a number of companies to stop multiplayer on older games. EA has turned out to not be an exception to this, as they have announced a full 50 games will lose support for multiplayer. Crysis 1 and 2, older versions of Battlefield, older versions of Madden on the DS, and other games are all on the chopping block, meaning they will no longer be able to be played with online with friends.
In related news, Bungie is working on a patch to the original Halo PC version to keep multiplayer functioning despite GameSpy's shutdown.
All of these changes will happen in July.
