The second expansion for MMO Guild Wars 2 has been revealed.

ArenaNet took to the Guild Wars 2 website to make the latest announcement, noting that Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire will release on September 22nd of this year and will feature a new story, new character customization, and new areas to explore.

The new expansion will launch nearly a year after the first true in game expansion, Heart of Thorns, and will grant players a total of five new open-world zones. Fans of the series will be delighted to hear that they will be given a chance to revisit Crystal Desert from the first Guild Wars, and the region of Elona from Guild Wars: Nightfall 250 years after the events of that title took place.

In addition to the new locales, new mounts which will allow players to explore Tyria in new ways and a brand new single use max level boost will be added come launch. Elite Specializations are also being added to the game and will allow characters to be customized "even further than before..." according to the press release.

ArenaNet isn't resting on its laurels, either, allowing all current "good standing" accounts to access a weekend preview running from August 11-13. Players will have access to "a look into the story of Path of Fire" as well as an opportunity to try out the Crystal Oasis map, and a new mount.

Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire will launch on PC September 22nd, 2017 and can be pre-purchased for $29.99 from the Guild Wars 2 Website. A pre-purchase will net players the choice of a weapon or skin from the Sunspear Seapon Set, a Miniature Balthazar, and the Elonia Envoy title.
