Halo 5's Forge feature is finally getting the huge update that was teased at E3 2016 and other events this year. The first solid details were revealed Tuesday for the Monitor's Bounty update, but we finally have more solid information on what to expect.
To start; more than 650 new objects are being added into Forge. This addition will bring the total number of unique objects to upwards of 3800 in the popular map/mode making toolsuite.
The biggest focus of this update is the addition of what is being called "powerful and robust' scripting tools that will allow players to create any manner of gametypes. Players are already doing some of these things and we've seen some pretty awesome creations so far from Star Wars style Podracing to Quidditch. The possibilites are endless with players getting their hands on expanded and more feature rich tools.
343 is also adding new gametypes; Race and King of the Hill. Both of these have been in previous Halo titles but have yet to make an appearance in Halo 5. A new game mode called Battle Golf is also making an apperance and it looks pretty awesome.
General Forge enhancements are also coming. Tweaks and changes to the way Forge looks and feels are coming as well as the formerly PC exclusive File Recovery system will be making their way to the Xbox One. Machinima Mode is also making its apperance which lets you snap screenshots of your levels directly in game.
A new custom Games browser is also being added on both Xbox One and PC. This will allow players to join custom games which is a HUGE change for PC, which currently has no server browser at all.
The full patch notes for the latest build will be published on December 8th, which is also when the new expansion launches.
