Halo Forge, the map manipulation tool that has allowed users to create custom content for Bungie/343's Halo series since the days of Halo 3 is officially coming to Windows 10, Microsoft and 343 Industries announced in a blog post on the Xbox website.

"From the very beginning, community creations have been central to the Halo experience...From stacking up grenades underneath an unsuspecting Warthog to multiplayer movie-making, the Halo sandbox has always been a fertile soil for millions of moments and memories created for, and by, the fans..." The blog post read. "...Today, we're excited to announce that we're bringing the same spirit of creation to PC later this year with Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition for Windows 10."

The new edition of Forge will be FREE for all Windows 10 users, and downloadable via the Windows Store. It will bring with it some new features as well including keyboard and mouse support, increased resolution, and the ability to test and play your Forge creations on Windows 10. Anything built on the Windows 10 version can be pushed and published to the Xbox One.

343 Industries Director Tom French said of the new tool "Forge on the PC will finally give the mouse/keyboard editing precision the community has always been clamoring for. On top of that, an updated and optimized UI geared towards mouse interactions makes a lot of the inputs in Forge easier and faster than before."

No release date was given, and little other information is available at this time. However, 343 did promise that we will learn more about Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition on Windows 10 later this year. New updates are also coming to the Xbox One version of Forge including advanced file sharing capabilities, new pieces, pallets, props, and new environments.

Could this lead to Halo 5: Guardians or future Halo titles on PC? That remains to be seen, but we will bring you the latest on Forge for Windows 10 as we get it.
