In a move that will probably surprise no one, Hideo Kojima has finally split with Konami.
Initial reports state that Kojima will open a new game studio which will apparently retain "a number of former Kojima Productions staff" and that they are currently in talks with Sony to develop games for its PlayStation platform.
A Rocky Transition
The much praised developer and publisher have been in conflict for much of the past year. It seemingly started when Kojima's latest entry into the Silent Hill series was canceled and quickly escalated as Konami completely removed Hideo Kojima's name from the marketing of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Reports also came across after the 2015 Game Awards that Kojima was barred from attending the event and accepting any awards on behalf of his studios latest release.
It's a sad, but predictable turn of events for both Konami and Hideo Kokima. We here at Senshudo wish them both the best in their future endeavors. After all, some of the greatest games of all time came out of their partnership.
