How To Be The Best Stream Viewer Possible

Spawned from a conversation had during a broadcast just yesterday, it seems there’s a few unspoken points around how to truly support some of your favourite content creators. Hopefully this will serve to bring some of these points to the fore and get some folks the extra push they really need.

While putting on a great, interactive cast is incredibly important and most people come back for the personality, sometimes getting the ball rolling isn’t so easy. Talking to yourself for hours on end is an incredibly draining experience and truly difficult to do day in, day out. Thankfully, there are things that you can do as a viewer to give a leg-up.

You have the power, as a viewer and a chatter, to spark interesting conversations. These conversations can make the difference between a successful and unsuccessful cast. A single topic thrown out there can provide a solid chunk of content to discuss around that helps engage new viewers and existing viewers alike. All it takes is digging up the right topic to get the juices flowing.

Quite often, something completely off the wall and unrelated to the game can work well. Throw out something interesting that happened in your day, a debate about your favourite food, hell, just chat complete nonsense if that’s what it takes. Anything that you know the content creator can latch onto to talk around and you can comfortable discuss for a while is fair game. Of course, take into account the channel’s rules before going anywhere too lewd or controversial.

Taking the stream where this came up as an example, we were playing through a WWE game. We discussed our favourite moments from the show, the cringiest, the most controversial before moving onto favourite streamers and how they’re inspired you. This all came from the chat’s interactions and created a tonne of interaction between me and my chat.

It’s easy to agree that this kind of chat is really helpful to keeping chat flowing, making the caster’s job easier and generally having a good time. However, it seems to be pretty rare that people take the step to incite these chats to help out their favourite casters. So next time you wander into a quiet stream, take it upon yourself to spark that conversation. You might be surprised at how appreciated it is.
