Kickstarter passes $1 Billion In Pledges

By Simon Pratt on 29/04/2024 21:50 UTC

Today, Kickstarter, the website in which businesses and individuals can gain funding for their ideas and pitches, passed a staggering $1 billion dollars in pledges. An astonishing achievement only made more incredible by the fact that over HALF of that figure was pledged last year alone.

5.7 Million people have contributed to various creative projects which have spawned fantastic devices such as the Oculus Rift and the Pebble Watch. Their website splits down the colossal figure into various sections such as amount spent by each country, shows you which day was the most popular day of the week for pledges being made, and even tells you how many Titanics the billion would have been able to make (4 along with the film just incase you wondered!)

I think this is a fantastic achievement and continues to contribute to the ever growing culture that is video gaming, as well as to ventures that probably would not see the light of day without Kickstarter being around.

Congratulations to all at Kickstarter for an amazing accomplishment.
