Konami Will Produce Prosthetic Arm For Amputee Fan

A British Metal Gear Solid fan will get his own special built prosthetic arm, paid for by Konami. This is reported by Konami themselves in their PR-blog. The prosthetic arm will be made to look like the one Big Boss has in Metal Gear Solid V.

The fan in question is 25 year old James Young, who lost an arm and a leg in a tragic train accident. The developer is working closely with renowned prosthetics artist, Sophie De Oliviera Barata and a team of engineers, roboticists and product designers, to ensure that Young will get a functional limb with a Metal Gear Solid aesthetic.

Konami got involved in this project when they found out that Young is a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, and because of his many parallels with the themes of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain where the main character himself has a prosthetic arm. Konami have named this project The Phantom Limb project, and they've created a dedicated blog and are also working on a very personal documentary which will track the full production and development.

Something similar has also been done by Marvel, who made an Iron Man inspired prosthetic for a fan earlier this year.
