Lego Dimensions Announced As Journalist "Jokingly" Squats Domain

Lego and TT Games' (forever Traveller's Tales in my head) competitor to Skylanders and Disney Infinity has been announced - but not without a little attention hogging from a particular games website's employee.

Polygon's Deputy News Editor Michael McWhertor registered the domain legodimensions.com on Wednesday, allegedly based on an earlier rumour from Videogamer.com. Until around 5pm GMT this directed visitors to Polygon's article revealing details on the game. McWhertor did not write the article himself, and now appears to have changed the redirect to Lego's official website.

The game itself is a sort of logical progression for TT's many licensed properties - mashing them all together into a single, merchandisable universe. Available characters will include "DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, The Wizard of Oz, LEGO Ninjago, Back to the Future, and many more still to be announced."

Unique to Dimensions appears to be the variety of collectibles on offer. As well as the usual NFC figurines you'll be able to scan in vehicles like the Batmobile, as well as 'level packs' for various franchises, including a number of themed in-game items.

Lego Dimensions is scheduled to launch on the 29th September 2015, for the dizzying array of Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and - yes - the Wii U.
