GamesCom 2016 is underway and has already brought a heap of surprises and gaming goodies for fans around the world. Konami decided to use GamesCom to announced Metal Gear Survive. MGS is a four-player stealth co-op game that is set for release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in 2017.

Metal Gear Survive is set directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Players will be "...transported through wormholes into an alternate universe, where they're forced to battle a force of crystalline zombies and, it seems, at least one Metal Gear itself."

Survive will be the first Metal Gear game after the depature of series creator Hideo Kojima. Konami has not yet made it clear how much, if any, of the original Kojima Productions team are working on the title. "Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series' famed stealth elements...but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing mutliplayer experience." Said Konami European President Tomotada Tashiro.

A new trailer was released via IGN, and can be seen below. Little else is known about the title at this point other than that it will be a four-player co-op title and will feature brand new weaponry for players to fight of enemies. The Konami website refers to the game as "survival done the Metal Gear way".

It certainly is an interesting depature from the typical Metal Gear series' past endeavors. We'll keep you updated on Metal Gear Survive as we get more information.
