Microsoft are working on a new multi-platform game and app streaming service codenamed 'Arcadia', according to reporters at ZDNet.
The new technology will build on their previous effort from last year, codenamed 'Rio', and would potentially allow game and app streaming from Android to Windows devices, as well as on Xbox One.
The rumour stems from two job postings mentioning the apparent codename and Operating Systems Group (OSG) division, which previously worked on Rio. It comes in the wake of a recent Microsoft project on low latency cloud gaming called 'Outatime', and could provide competition to Sony's expanding Gaikai services on PlayStation.
Arcadia could refer to the eponymous planet in the Halo universe (following in the footsteps of Cortana for Windows Phones); the Greek concept of utopia; or the excellent Tom Stoppard play. We just don't know.
