With less than a month until the release of Codemasters’ latest installment to the Formula One franchise, the developers have released what could be their final pre-release trailer- showing off game features which have yet to be seen in an F1 game.
The game contains heaps of brand new features and improvements to the franchise, which Codemasters believe will drastically improve the players’ experiences. The first and most notable change the developers have been working on is the single player campaign. F1 2016’s career mode will span across 10 seasons which “gives the opportunity to create your own legend.” In addition to this, players will choose an avatar to represent them as well as a number that will represent them through their career.
The real-life F1 teams all have their own unique expectations and goals that the player must reach in order to be successful at a team. Great performances could lead to new contracts with other racing teams while also rewarding you with first place in the championship.
A great feature that’s been (finally) re-added to the franchise is the inclusion of the Safety Car. While players have wanted this feature to return in previous games, it has been implemented to F1 2016.
“With the re-introduction of the Safety Car as well as the addition of the Virtual Safety Car for the very first time, we are creating the most complete F1 experience ever," said Lee Mather. "This, combined with several features that are yet to be announced, should excite fans of the game and Formula One.”
With the reintroduction of the safety car, for the first time in the franchise’s history, the “Formation Lap” will also be a feature in the game. Also known as “the warm up lap,” players will now experience a short warmup before a race commences.
Thanks to a practise development programme, you will also be able to upgrade your car by taking advantage of the tests undertaken by teams on a grand prix weekend. During Track Acclamation tests, you will now able to able to perform tests granting research and development points which can be spent on further upgrades to your vehicle.
Finally, to add a little more diversity to your racing experience, Codemasters have created a time of day editor that will enable anybody to change what time of day a race is taking place and therefore changing the lighting. Those who enjoy racing into the sunset will make great use of this feature.
Codemasters' F1 2016 is set for release on August 19 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. Final details are yet to be released.
