Activision confirmed today what should surprise no one at this point; it will show the latest Call of Duty game off at E3 2016 in June. What might surprise you was what they also announced; they won't have a booth at this years expo.
In a post on the official Activision Blog, the developer stated that it was working with Sony to showcase the gameplay footage because "we will not be present on the show floor".
"In June, we’re going to be at E3 showcasing gameplay from Infinity Ward’s ambitious new game. We’re looking forward to sharing exciting new details about the next great Call of Duty game in partnership with our friends at PlayStation. We’re proud to be participating in this premier video game event, but won’t have an Activision booth on the show floor."
Activision is now the second major publisher to confirm that it will not have a booth at E3 2016. No reason was given for the change, but it could give other developers the space to shine. EA already confirmed earlier this year that they will be "forgoing its traditional E3 presence" and will instead hold a free event for fans in the days leading up to E3.
Its an interesting move for Activision for sure. We will have more E3 developments for you as we get closer to the expo this year.
