Nintendo Direct Brings New Smash Bros. Ultimate Characters

If you're a Super Smash Bros. fan, this mornings Nintendo Direct was for you! This direct was packed with new information about the upcoming entry in the popular fighting game series. Let's delve into it together, shall we?

Two brand new characters are coming to Ultimate this December; Simon and Richter Belmont from the Castlevania series! These two new fighters are introduced via a gritty trailer, Luigi's Mansion style.

Simon will have access to many of his signature items during battles including his iconic whip. Simons whip is reported to be a bit slow which will leave him open for attacks, but it does have a longer than average reach and can be controlled freely. This could lead to some huge game play changes when facing him. Simon will also be able to throw axes and crosses. The Grand Cross is his Final Smash which will stuff opponents into a coffin and launch them.

Simon will also get his own stage, Dracula's Castle. The stage will be the darkest in the game, according to Sakurai. Players will be able to attack candlesticks around the level that will drop items. 34 music tracks both classic and new will also be available for the stage. Castlevania bosses Medusa, Flea-Man, and Dracula will also make appearances, which we here can't wait to see how that plays out in a Smash Bros. title.

Richter on the other hand is an Echo Fighter based on Simon. Alucard will also make an appearance in Ultimate as an Assist Trophy whose moves will be inspired by Symphony of the Night. It is worth noting that while Richter will be an Echo Fighter he will have his own distinct voice and animations.

Other new characters revealed during the Nintendo Direct include Chrom, Dark Samus, and King K. Rool, who was an often requested fan favorite from the Donkey Kong series.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release on December 7th for Nintendo Switch. You can view the direct below for all of the information!
