Nintendo held their online only media briefing this morning in Los Angeles and had quite a few surprising announcements.
First off, they announced that new DLC characters Ryu and Roy would be available starting today. This came as a welcome surprise with an after E3 launch for the DLC seeming more likely.
Nintendo also revealed that Ryu, Duck Hunt, and every other SSBB character will have an Amiibo made of them if they don’t have one already. This expands on the increasingly popular Amiibo collection already out and can assure that Amiibo fans will be going crazy for some time to come.
Another huge announcement was that Youtube Replay uploads are coming to SSBB. Youtube and Nintendo partnered together to bring this new, free feature to the Wii U. To use the upload feature all a player needs is a Wii U, a new addon, and a Google Account.
The Youtube replay news came in conjuncture with the other exciting SSBB announcement; Tourney modes will hit SSBB this fall. Not only will the new mode hit the Wii U, but it will also be available on the 3DS version as well as a FREE update for all players. Tourneys will come in two formats: Community Tourney and Tourney.
Community Tourneys let players compete for the highest points in a certain amount of time...while regular Tourneys have a specific set of rules and only happen at select times.
Finally, Nintendo revealed that new Mii Fighter costumes from Virtua Fighter series, Tekken, Megaman.EXE, Animal Crossing and Splatoon are on the way to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS.Players can buy all fighters, stages, outfits and accessory featured from today’s DLC releases can buy them as DLC pack for $21.96, or $29.16 for both versions or purchase them individually for set varying prices.
