After just under a year since the Switch was revealed to be reality, and just a few months after a slick reveal trailer, Nintendo finally blew open the secret doors they’ve kept the Switch details behind and gave us everything.
Nintendo wasted no time in announcing the release date and price point. Simply put, the Nintendo Switch will release worldwide on March 3rd, 2017 and will retail for $299.99.
The Switch will support a new online service, similar sounding to Xbox LIVE and Playstation Plus but few details were available during the presentation. This service will be free at launch, but will eventually switch to a subscription service in the fall of 2017.
Nintendo also revealed that region locks are finally gone from their console.
A few games were also showcased during the presentation, and we will have more on those for you as we get the information.
Nintendo also confirmed a few rumors from the Nintendo Switch’s massive rumor mill. First, the Nintendo Switch will have a capacitive touch screen interface and will get anywhere between 2 ½ and 6 ½ hours of battery life depending on use. USB-C Will be used for charging the switch and you can play the Switch while it charges.
The new Joy-Con controllers are also motion based controllers and will include and IR camera and a one-click screenshot/video capture button as well.
We will bring you more on the Nintendo Switch as we get it, but we wanted to get the most important information to you first!
