For you VR enthusiasts and early adopters out there, Oculus has just announced the games that are hitting the market with the release of the Rift, which totals to be a whopping 30 games on release. Unless you've kept up with VR software releases from day one, there aren't many notable titles on the lineup. EVE's expansions are probably the largest head-turners, with Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes in a close second. Head on over to their blog to see the remaining titles hitting this month.
To add, Oculus has launched the Oculus Home, which is a game-centric UI that allows users to browse their library as if they were home while they're at home....browsing their library. We'd like to see a little bit of UI experimentation here, perhaps browsing a library of games on Mars a la Heavy Rain? Maybe sitting on top of a gigantic skyscraper, overlooking an entire city of scrubs? The possibilities of where you can game are endless.
This is a strong move for Oculus, since there's been a fight for press lately over the Rift and HTC/Valve's virtual reality headset. Vive, a pricier VR option with touch controls and VR "arena" markers, will be shipping with 50 launch titles, but the later release date in April is difficult to swallow for a lot of VR enthusiasts. Plus, Valve's backing with HTC might be a powerful force amongst the gaming community, maybe not apparently up front, but definitely in the future. Stay tuned to see more details drop!
