Overwatch PC's Beta Return Delayed, New Game Mode Included

Blizzard have revealed that the closed PC beta for its first person shooter Overwatch will not resume this month as was originally planned.

Jeff Kaplan, the games director said in a post on the Overwatch forums that it is "taking longer than previously expected to pour over the feedback from the first run of the beta and as such, the goal to return in mid-to-late January will not be met." The game will now return sometime in February instead.

The news wasn't all bad, Kaplan also confirmed that the delay will allow them to add a new game mode into the beta which will be available when it re-launches next month. Details on the game mode were not readily available but Kaplan did say:

After looking through all of the feedback from last year, one of the things we noticed players consistently mentioning was their desire for more game modes in Overwatch, in addition to Point Capture and Payload. Without getting into specifics, we are working on a new game mode and we're very excited about it. We (will) have some great new maps too support it, too, but we need a little more time to get everything right.

Kaplan went on to say that overall it was an easy choice to delay the return of the beta, as Blizzard has a reputation for delivering things when they feel they are ready and its highly unlikely that the betas return will shift to March.
