The release of Niantic Games’ latest augmented reality game, Pokémon GO is finally upon us- but only in some regions.
Luckily for any Android user (with a compatible Android 4.4 device), you are able to download and play the game right now- even in region where the game is not released, such as the UK. The game's Google Play page is live but the 'official' download is still region locked to Austrailia and New Zealand.
Despite not being released yet in the UK, I’ve already been playing the game this morning. I seem to be limited to only bug and flying type Pokémon in my area but Ho-Oh well.
I’m yet to fully explore my village which is now inhabited with Pokémon but I can see that I have a Pokéstop about 3 minutes away from where I live. Further out there are a couple of Pokémon Gyms.
So I guess you’re wondering how you can play. Firstly you will need to follow this link through your compatable Android device and download the game’s APK file. Do ensure that your device is set to allow app installations from unknown sources.
After downloading the file, locate the download and the game will then install itself onto your device. You will then be able to play Pokémon GO.
The game’s bluetooth companion, the Pokémon GO Plus is still set for release on July 31st but cannot yet be purchased or pre-ordered on Amazon.
