Pokémon GO Beta Now Live

When Pokémon GO was announced and teased by The Pokémon Company in September 2015, fans of the series were instantly excited for what was to come to their smartphones sometime during 2016.

Earlier this month, The Pokémon Company released a Beta sign up page where a bunch of lucky trainers would be picked and allowed into the program to start roaming the world which “is inhabited far and wide by creatures called Pokémon.” As of today, the lucky few who were invited to the Beta program are now able to install and play the free-to-play title.

In addition to releasing Pokémon into the wild today, The Pokémon Company and Niantic have also shared some extra information about their upcoming game. There will be over one hundred different Pokémon species to capture in the wild. Whenever a player has walked close to one, a notification will be sent to the player’s Apple or Android smartphone where they are able to use their device’s touch screen to throw a Poké Ball. These Poké Balls will be purchasable at PokéStops, or even real-world locations such as monuments, historical sites, or public art installations.

The Beta sign-up page is still live, however it is limited to US residents only. It might be too late to sign up but hey, you never know. If you weren't lucky enough to be invited to the Beta (or are from anywhere else in the world other than the US) then we will have to wait a little while longer.
