Skylar & Plux was designed by five students in Sweden. When we heard this during our presentation and hands on demo, I honestly thought they were kidding. The game that they've designed is absolutely gorgeous. It uses stunning colors and vibrant characters to immerse you in this platforming world that they've created.
Skylar & Plux is a platform adventure title very similar to the Rachet and Clank series. The inspiration from Rachet and Clank was apparent throughout the demo, and that isn't a bad thing. True platforming adventure titles are hard to find these days and it was a refreshing trip back to the fun I used to have a child playing games.
Your character has a mechanic that can slow down time which is helpful when facing enemies that can obliterate you with two hits or when hitting jumping platforms that are spinning half the speed of light.
The platforming is addicting and fun and there are so many secret areas and things to do and find in each map it's worth exploring the odd corner or pushing the random button just to see what happens. Even on the easiest difficulty, I found myself dying quite a bit and having my colleagues laughing at me every time.
We can't wait to get more hands on with this title when it releases.
