Star Wars Battlefront - Skirmish Mode, More Added

By AJ Hanson on 29/04/2024 21:52 UTC

After releasing last fall to luke-warm (heh) reviews, Star Wars Battlefront is finally getting one of the features many fans clamored for at launch, an offline mode called Skirmish.

The new mode will allow offline play against AI controlled bots either solo or split-screen co-op style. Longtime fans of the series applauded the announcement on the games social media pages and thanked DICE and EA for listening to their feedback. The new offline mode is confined to the base game, however. As the DLC is apparently experiencing licensing issues and they are "looking into it" at DICE.

The upcoming Death Star DLC was also detailed further:

“We're finally adding space, which I think is gonna be a big deal to players who have been asking for it for a long time,” said Bränvall. “Of course, the interior maps are going to be darker, and suitably Death Star-y like you'd expect.” Also teased in the trailer (see below) released last weekend; The Death Star Trench Run? “It wouldn't be the Death Star without it.”

The new interior scenarios sound amazing as well. "The Death Star is one of those things that is super iconic, but you've only seen it in the background so far...Hopefully players will be really excited about actually being able to go there."

Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star will launch in September, with a Rogue One themed DLC coming sometime after that as well.
