For Star Wars fans, the past two days have felt like Christmas in April. With The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams dropping a new teaser trailer yesterday to kick off Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, CA that had even the manliest of men weeping over their keyboards in excitement and now EA/DICE have (finally) revealed more information about the latest entry into the Star Wars Battlefront series.
Titled Star Wars Battlefront and scheduled for a release November 17th it is the first entry into the series since Star Wars Battlefront II was released in October 2005.
A new trailer was released in light of the new details announced and needless to say, this game look amazing. EA/DICE really put a lot of time and energy into making this game seem as close to realistic as possible and it shows in the images and videos we have seen thus far. Hopefully there will be opportunities for players to get their hands on this game before its official release via a closed or open beta.
This series reboot lets players dive into the world of Star Wars and use it as a quasi-action sandbox. Either as part of a larger-scale campaign style mission that can include up to 40 players or smaller one-off missions that will be based on film scenes. Famous locations like Hoth and Endor's Forest Moon all look wonderful and come to life like no other Star Wars game before them has ever allowed. Players can take on the roles of many famous characters including Boba Fett and Darth Vader. This latest entry really feels like the ultimate fan experience for any Star Wars fan and seems to have something for everyone in a Star Wars game check list.
Again, the game looks and sounds amazing. DICE showed off some Playstation 4 gameplay and we here at Senshudo were blown away by what we saw. The visuals look like they were ripped right out of the films and it sounds amazing. It is the closest thing to date to making a player feel like they are fully immersed in the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Battlefront lands on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC November 17th.
