Well THIS was a surprise! Aspyr Media have announced that a remaster for the 2002 action title Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is on the way for Xbox One, Xbox Series, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC for $19.99.

For those unaware, The game centers around Jango Fett, and is a prequel to Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones.

Aspyr is no stranger to Star Wars remasters, having recently released (and still working on updating) the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection to...mixed reviews.

Aspyr did also confirm that the long standing Easter-egg-that-wasn't-actually-an-easter-egg is actually happening this time around; Once you complete the game, fans will be able to play as Boba Fett for their next playthrough .

In the Playstation Blog post, Chris Bashaar (Director of Product at Aspyr) said that the original Star Wars Bounty Hunter has a low resolution texture message written in Aurbesh that reads "Cash in all bounties to play as Boba".

“We’ve brought this Easter egg to life, so after completing the campaign, you will be able to equip a new Boba Fett skin for your next playthrough.”

Pretty great payoff of a long-standing easter egg, if you ask me! I cannot wait to dive in.

Key Features of the updated title include:

  • Let the Hunt Begin: In this classic third-person action-adventure, you'll play as Jango Fett, Prime Clone of the Grand Army of the Republic, hired to capture a deranged Dark Jedi.
  • Relive the Timeless Tale: Experience the legendary Bounty Hunter fantasy set before the events of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Face off against foes and maneuver through acrobatic battles in this adaption optimized for today's consoles and hardware.
  • Armed to the Teeth: Fight your way through the galaxy’s underbelly, equipped with Dual Blasters, your Flamethrower, Whipcord, and pure Mandalorian Rage.

The Playstation 5 version will see exclusive features, thanks to its DualSense controller.

They are as follows:

  • Integrated adaptive triggers: Each weapon in Jango’s arsenal now has a unique rhythmic feel.
  • Voice comms: We’ve routed Jango’s in-game radio communication to play through the DualSense wireless controller’s speaker for an all-new immersive experience.
  • Lightbar meets health bar: Use the lightbar display on your controller as a visual indicator of Jango’s current health status.

Again, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter remaster releases on August 1st.
