Starters For Pokémon Sun And Moon Revealed In New Trailer

Earlier this week, Nintendo released a brand new trailer for Pokémon Sun and Moon which allowed us to get more familiar with the new starter Pokémons featured in the upcoming games. It also provided a good look of the new region, called Alola.

As per the standard process, the starter Pokémons are still a grass, fire and water type and they're named Rowlet, Litten and Popplio. Rowlet is the Grass starter for this generation, and it is also the only dual type Pokémon among the starters. The Grass type is matched up with the Flying type as well, which can provide a handy combo in the beginning of the game. Litten is a Fire kitten that spits firey hairballs, and then there's Popplio who is a playful Water-type seal that prefers the sea over land.

The Pokémon Sun and Moon games will take place in the Alola region, which is an island paradise that may be inspired of Hawaii. This is quite the leap from the Kalos region, which had a more European feel to it. Judging from the trailer, we will have a large main island to explore, with a handful of smaller islands surrounding it. You can also see a large mountain, which may be a volcano area, along with some cave systems here and there.

The trailer also announces the release date for the games, which is set to November 23, 2016. This is shown alongside the cover art for both of the new games, which displays the legendary Pokémon that we still know nothing about at this point. You can view the full trailer below.
