Veteran fans of sci-fi horror will be salivating at the news of a somewhat belated sequel to the 1999 classic ‘System Shock 2.’ The announcement, made by new studio ‘Otherside’ came via a regularly shifting series of cryptic words and symbols, sometimes combining to form the game’s title. Add to that an ominous ticking timer and you’ve got yourself a mystery worthy of the Von Braun itself.
While there is no confirmation of whether or not System Shock and Bioshock alumni Ken Levine will be on board for the sequel, the current team at Otherside is made up of ex-Looking Glass Studios members, including the guys who worked on both the ‘System Shock’ and ‘Thief’ games.
In other news, Night Dive Studios (the current holders of the IP for the series) are hard at work on a re-imagining of the original System Shock, having just released an enhanced port of the classic title. Release dates are yet to be announced.
