British gamers have had relatively little to shout about when it comes to pro PC gaming. There are a fair few high-earning console players, particularly Call of Duty pros like Josh Shephard, Ben Bance and Joe Pinnington. There’s also Craig ‘Raffer’ Rathbone who, along with his team Epsilon Esports, won the Smite world championships last year. However the sad truth is that us Limeys are exponentially dwarfed by our American, Continental and Asian counterparts.
But it looks like this might be about to change, as the all-British Team UK have smashed their way into the quarterfinals of the Overwatch World Cup. The Brits absolutely dominated Group H, defeating Belgium, Israel and Germany by 4 - 0. They then faced off against Group G runners-up Chinese Taipei (Thailand), winning 3 - 0. Team UK will now face the equally dominant Canada in the quarterfinals, which will be held at Blizzcon on November 3rd and 4th.
Head on over to the official Overwatch World Cup site for a more in-depth run-down of what's been going on.
