Telltale shed a little more light on their upcoming Dark Knight video game, Batman - A Telltale Video Game Series yesterday at SXSW.
The new series will take place in modern day Gotham however it will not be based on any current Batman media (comics, tv, movies, etc). The story will focus on both Bruce Wayne and Batman, with decisions shaping the city Bruce encounters during the day and the villains that Batman encounters at night.
Each night, Bruce Wayne chooses to change Gotham for the better. The team wants to explore what the consequences are of the player’s actions when decisions made as Bruce have a critical impact on his nightly crusade as Batman, and vice versa. Certain key situations will give the player the decision to approach a scene as Bruce or Batman with consequences for both sides.
Telltale did not reveal much other information about the title as its playing things pretty close to the chest. They said they're keeping a lid on any story and villain related information until closer to release this summer. They did confirm that sidekicks such as Robin and Nightwing will not appear, but side characters like Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, and Vicki Vale will all have a role in the game. These characters will be affected by players choices throughout the game as both Bruce and Batman and could "alter their paths towards corruption or redemption."
Batman will be rated M (Mature 17+), with the cinematic approach to telling this story referencing an R-Rated film.
