Back in 2014, Telltale Games confirmed that they are working on a third season for their popular The Walking Dead series. While the developer still haven't confirmed a set release date for the first episode, but the CEO of Telltale Games, Kevin Bruner, did confirm earlier this week that it should definitely happen by the end of 2016.
It was in an interview with Mashable where Bruner confirmed this launch window, and he also said that we can expect more details around Comic-Con International this summer. Not many details are revealed about what plans the developer has for season 3, but Bruner says that they are working on a new and unexpected way to pick up the threads from the previous season.
The final episode of season 2 had three possible endings, and he promises that the player will be able to continue the story from where they were left off previously. Telltale's current biggest challenge is how they can make a product that both satisfies the demands of the existing The Walking Dead fans while not shutting out newcomers to the series, but Bruner is confident that his team has found a perfect solution.
"From a role-playing, interactive storytelling point of view, it is not from the bag of tricks that we've ever shown anybody before. The way that we're dealing with and validating and retaining all those different playthroughs is really cool and unexpected and, I think, pretty innovative from the storytelling point of view."
